HOW TO CLEAN JEWELRY AND TARNISHED SILVER

Jewelry, especially diamond jewelry gets dirty very easily. We recommend our customers not to take a shower, or put on moisturizers while wearing jewelry, since sop scum and grease gets stuck on the gemstones and make the jewelry look dull and dirty. Cooking and gardening are other factors that cause jewelry to get dirty really fast.

If your diamond jewelry is dirty, the best way to clean it at home is using a jewelry cleaning solution. At OKG Jewelry we offer free jewelry cleaning to our customers and additionally a really good jewelry cleaner to use at home.

The best way to use this solution is to microwave the bottle for a minute, heat up the solution and soak the jewelry in it. If it is platinum/gold or diamonds, you can soak it for an hour and it would be safe to do so. But if the jewelry is made of silver or lead and/or contain soft gemstones, or pearls we would not recommend to use this solution, since it can hurt the material.

If the jewelry is really dirty, you can brush it with the little brush and soak it for a few more minutes.

After this all you have to do is to rinse it under the sink with plain water and you will get its sparkle bask.

TARNISHED SILVER

The best and easiest way to clean silver jewelry is to use a double sided silver polishing cloth.

This cloth takes away the black residue and brings silver back to life.

First you wipe it in circular motion with the white side to polish the blackness and tiny scratches,

The the softer blue side gives back the shine to the jewelry. The more you wipe, the better it gets.

DID YOU KNOW?

Majority of diamonds 100 carats and over that are found since the beginning of 20th century, come from Southern Africa.

One of these huge diamonds was the Cullinan diamond, found in South Africa in 1905. The unpolished and rough weight of this diamond was 3106.75 carats. It was over 4 inches long.

There were 9 diamonds cut from this rough diamond. Here is a photo of the glass replicas of these 9 diamonds.

The largest diamond that was cut from the Cullinan diamond was 530.2ct pear shape, knowns as the Great Star of Africa.

Here is a painting of King George VI, wearing the Cullinan Diamond.

HOW TO PREVENT CHAINS FROM TANGLING

You are about to put on the pendant that matches your outfit perfectly and ready to leave the house for work or even a special occasion and you realize that there is a dreaded knot on the chain. That's not fun!
Now let us show you a super simple trick that it prevents your chains from tangling.

All you need is a little ziploc bag. you can order them online, usually 1 dolar for 50 of them.

Now the way you store your chain is you put it in the plastig bag and leave the clasp part out them zip the bag so that it does not fall back in the bag.

and that's it! You're all set. Believe it or not, your chain will never get tangled, ever again!
If you are afraid of the part of the chain that is outside of the bag getting tarnished, put the little bag inside a bigger bag.

This is what we recommend to all our customers at OKG JEWELRY.

2015 Fall Fashion Week Jewelry Trends

Another Fashion Week took Ny by the storm and passed before we knew it and now it is Paris' turn in mesmerizing fashion lovers. Here are some photos from designer runways and street style, showing hot trends in jewelry.

Medallion Pendants

The simplest piece of jewelry with the most impact is a hands down a medallion pendant, such as the ones with simple monograms. Whether it is the first initial of your or a beloved's name engraved on it, these pendants are very sentimental as well as fashionable. They are subtle enough to match with any outfit and yet conversation pieces due to the personalized concept.

Here are some monogram medallion pendants by OKG Jewelry.

They are available in solid white, yellow and rose gold as well as in sterling silver with any color gold overlay.

We have to tell you that the yellow gold is the most popular one out of all.

Stackables

Stackable concept is in fashion for quite sometime, although the types of stackables change every season. Here are some trendy ideas for this season:

Stackable Necklaces

One way to do this is to stack small charm pendants on different length chains. Make sure that each chain is about 2 inches longer than the next on such as 16"-18"-20". At OKG Jewelry we make most of our pendants chains and chain necklaces adjustable to different lengths by adding a "loop chain" on the back.

Here is another beautiful pair of long station necklaces with emeralds, black onyx and diamonds from OKG Jewelry stacked together.

Stackable Rings

Valentino showcased these ring stacks at the Fashion Week runway.

Stackable rings are hot sellers at our Little Neck, NY showroom. Some customers like to stack them like "midi rings",

and some like the classic celebration style and stack them on top of each other, 2 to 5 at a time.

We have an enormous collection of stackable rings at OKG Jewelry.

Here are some with vivid gemstones in different color gold and platinum.

Belt Choker

This Versace choker belt necklace was one of the most spectacular accessories of the Fashion Week 2015.

We carry the same notion in a bracelet version, containing ruby and diamonds set in antiqued silver.
