THE STORY OF A BEAUTIFUL TRANSFORMATION

It all started with our customer bringing her old engagement ring, not knowing how to improve the look of it. We are sure the ring was sentimental for her, however after so many years she was ready to jazz it up a little bit and maybe resetting it. Since she had a nice size center diamond and beautiful  diamonds on the sides, we mentioned that we can actually create a completely different and modern look for her. Once we showed a "halo" diamond engagement ring setting from our showcase, she fell in love with it! 

So first we removed the center diamond from the center crown to see the exact quality and carat weight of it by cleaning, weighting and observing it under a gemologist's loop. Once we did that the next step was to design the setting based on the measurements of the this diamond. Since the style our customer liked was a "bezel" style (raised bezel surrounds the stone holding it with a lip encircling and overlapping the edges of the diamond in place) we had to make sure that the bezel frame is made perfectly to fit the diameter of the stone. Bezel setting is great in many ways. First of all it is the most secure setting, since it surrounds the stone 365 degrees. It also never catches on anything because it has nothing but smooth edges. No prongs, no beads. 

Once we designed the ring with the proper measurements, we first engraved the "shank" of the ring on both sides, in order to give it an antique / vintage look. Here is a picture of the setting after the engraving is added. 

      The diamonds are ready to be set in the shank of the ring, in "pave" style. Pave is the French translation of the word "paved" in english. In this type of setting, the diamonds (always round brilliant cut diamonds) are letter ally paved into the metal and then the beads are raised around them to secure the diamonds and create a beautiful antique look. 

After all the diamonds are set, the ring will be cleaned and polished one last time and the it will look spectacular!

Of course, she was over the moon happy with her brand engagement ring with a million dollar look.

This palette ring is bursting with color! Hand crafted in 14kt yellow gold, containing 3.20ct multi-colored, multishaped diamonds, set in burnish and bead setting, surrounded by micropave set white diamonds in a very substantial design with black rhodium overlay.
