Murano is a Venetian Island in Northern Italy, that reminds us fairy tales, with it's vividly colorful houses, countless little bridges, merging series of islands and cute fisher boats. 

Murano Island is famous for its glass making, particularly jewelry/beads and lamp working. 

Murano glassmaker's specialized in fancy glasswares for centuries. The artisans developed many techniques including enameled glass (smalto), crystalline glass, "Aventurine glass" with threads of gold, Millefiori multicolored glass.  

There are countless factories and studios in Murano today, crafting all kinds of glass objects and sculptures. 

The Museo del Vetro (Glass Museum) in the Palazzo Giustinian has the most exquisite glass art from many cultures. 

You can find Murano Glass, anywhere in Venice. Back in the day the glass making factories were scattered all around Venice. However due to risk of a mass fire all the factories moved and were contained in Murano Island and that's how Murano became famous with glassmaking. 

Murano glassmakers were very reputable and respected in the society. 

They had certain privileges such as carrying sows and marrying the elite.
